Air Pollution Control for Small Resource Recovery Facilities

چکیده
Mr. Henderson brings up a subject that is going to become increasingly more important with the passage of time. As noted by the author and in an article by Marjorie Clarke in the January 1988 issue of Waste Age magazine, several states have enacted stringent air pollution control requirements for incinerators that, in some cases, are applicable to units as small as 20 tons per day (TPD). Many other states are considering such requirements. Several studies have indicated that there is a greater market potential for small (less than 600 TPD) and perhaps even for what some people call micro plants (less than 200 TPD) than there is for the large plants (greater than 600 TPD). These new re quirements for small plants can have a significant effect on their economic viability and when it would be pru dent to construct them. This paper presents a great deal of information on many details. Unfortunately, too much attention is sometimes spent on some details, such as S02' Al though S02 requirements are usually included in BACT, the very low sulfur content in MSW makes compliance a trivial matter. The paper also does not seem to answer the basic question or come to any conclusion about what should have been the reason

Development of a strategic plan through SWOT analysis to control traffic-borne air pollutants using CALINE4 model
Traffic is one of the main sources of air pollution in metropolitan areas. With development of transportation system, inappropriate vehicle production, and the use of low-quality fuels, increased pollution in these areas is inevitable. The current study tries to determine PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and CO emission dispersion, caused by traffic, using CALINE4 software. Ac...
متن کاملEconomic Evaluation of Zinc Recovery from Air Pollution Control Residues of European Waste to Energy Plants
SUMMARY: In Europe almost 80 million tons of waste are annually combusted in Waste-to-Energy plants. Solid residues generated thereby contain altogether about 69,000 t/a of Zn, of which more than 50 % accumulates in air pollution control (APC) residues. Recent research activities aiming at Zn recovery from APC residues resulted in a large scale Zn recovery plant at a Swiss waste incinerator. By...
متن کاملIncineration Technologies for Managing Solid Waste
Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, however, mitigate the risks to public health and make incineration an alternative worth exploring. Incineration can reduce solid waste to 85 percent to 90 percent of the incoming volume, or 65 percent to 80 percent of the incoming weight. With some modification, a waste incinerator can be designed to recover energy in the form of steam, hot water or electricity...

(2014) " Resource recovery from hazardous waste – the case of MSW incineration fly ashes " In: Proceedings " 4th International Conference Industrial and Hazardous Waste Management", 2.-5. SUMMARY: In the European Union almost 78 million tons of waste are annually combusted in Waste-to-Energy plants. Solid residues generated thereby contain altogether about 72,000 t/a of Zn, of which more than 5...
متن کاملMedical waste management in Korea.
The management of medical waste is of great importance due to its potential environmental hazards and public health risks. In the past medical waste was often mixed with municipal solid waste and disposed of in residential waste landfills or improper treatment facilities (e.g. inadequately controlled incinerators) in Korea. In recent years, many efforts have been made by environmental regulator...
